10 Things to Do on Memorial Day

Hello again!

I'm back with more summer fun, if you couldn't tell...I'm pretty excited.

Our family loves to be outside, in fact we have a really hard time staying inside. With this we are also really bad at planning a head. As much as we love to get out and do stuff we suck at planning fun things for holidays. It always ends up being labor day or memorial day and we are sitting at home saying "well I don't know, what do you want to do?"

This year we WILL do something fun for memorial day. I have gotten a list of fun and inexpensive things together to do this year for memorial day.

These little red boots kill me! http://www.gymboree.com/

  1. Barbeque- This one might seem like a no brainer... but there's nothing I love more than good bbq with the people I love. Do this shin-dig pot luck style, have family and friends bring their favorite side or dessert.
  2. Go fishing- We just took Avery fishing for the first time and she loved it! (no hooks involved for the 2 year old lol) It was cool seeing her try to do something new.

3. Swim- Get to a body of water! Whether it be a beach or a lake just go for it. I have been wanting to go on an all day beach trip. You have to get there early to get a good spot!

4. Ice Cream- Have a mini ice cream social. It would be so fun to get a ice cream sandwich bar going. This may just be the pregnant lady in me but build your own ice cream sandwich time sounds great!

5. Go on a hike-You don't have to get all intense here. It can just be a family walk. Sometimes when we are so bored we just go on a walk and then brainstorm from there.

6. Volunteer- Place flags on the graves of those who gave all for our freedom. Let us not forget what memorial day is about. It's about the men and women who sacrificed everything for you and I. This is a great way to show your appreciation.

7. Make fun patriotic treats- These red, white and blue parfaits look so yummy!

8. Play outside- Backyard games like cornhole or horseshoes are a fun way to spend the day. If there's barbeque involved with this you get bonus points and I better be invited.

9. Find a community event- A lot of towns and communities do fun events on Memorial Day. One easy way to find them is through Facebook. A simple search can bring up all sorts of events going on in your town.

10. Be together- No matter what you do this Memorial Day do it with the ones you love.  Little things like pool time and ice cream become big memories for your little ones. It reminds me of the movie Inside Out (THAT'S A CORE MEMORY)

I love capturing these moments and I am such a sucker for a great themed outfit. My mom nerd level just goes through the roof. I put Avery in this outfit from Gymboree for this fun post. The dress is so well made it will definitely make a great outfit for the 4th of July as well. She felt like such a princess in her matching necklace and bracelet set.

If you're getting ready for Memorial Day or the 4th of July go check out Gymboree's Red, White and Cute looks here: http://www.gymboree.com/

What was one of your favorite looks? I think we may be going back for the star shaped sunglasses!

That's all I have for now! I hope you have a great Memorial Day with your family!

In love, Rachel

*Thank you Gymboree for supplying us with this Red, White and Cute outfit for our post!
