Blueberry Pickin' Tips - Raising Up Wonder

Blueberry Pickin' Tips

Hooray for SUMMER!

Although I know it's not summer quite yet, I am celebrating its arrival. One thing I love about summer is berries. All of the local berry farms open their doors for "U Pick". There are tons of U pick farms across the country head over to this website and see what is available in your state.

Picking your own berries is so much fun! This was our first time at the Temecula Blueberry Co. and we had a blast.

A few things:

1. WEAR SUNSCREEN. It was hot outside! When you're out in an open field you have got to have sunscreen on.

2. Hats! My mom wore a super cute hat, get yourself a berry picking hat to shield the rays.

3. Bring water, maybe even a little ice chest to keep in the car. Berry pickin' is hard work. Make sure you stay hydrated.

4. Cash is king. Most of these places are cash only. At this farm it was $5 per pint of berries.

5. Bring a good bag. I wore my diaper bag as a backpack and it was perfect! I was able to carry my big camera and the 4 different bottles of sunscreen I "needed".

I LOVE this bag! It is the Shaylee from Lily Jade.

Check it out here.

6. Strollers are okay! They were at least for this farm. We didn't have ours but if we were planning for a longer day I would have brought it.

7. Wagons for older tots. This would be a great way to keep the kiddos involved all while not getting too tired. Because we all know what happens when toddlers get to that "too tired" state.

8. Bring your camera, it is so fun capturing these memories. I loved how excited Avery got when she saw the berries.

9. Last but not least: GO EARLY. Seriously. We got there around 10:30am and it was already hot. The earlier the better, or late in the day when it cools off.

Thanks for coming along with us on our blueberry adventure! It was a lot of fun and I'm hoping to take some of my own advice when we go back later this season.

In love, Rachel
