More Than Mama

I love being a mom guys.

I freakin' love it.

I mean I have a whole website basically talking about how much I love it.

Something that has been weighing on my heart lately though is my identity. Am I alone there? Like you know when you look in the mirror after a long night with a teething baby and you look la lot like a Bergen and less like Princess Poppy. And you think to yourself, who is this person? Hahah! (que the Mulan song; whoooooooo is that girl I seeee). Well I'm referring to those moments!

I feel like these little babies, bless their little hearts, just consume us! Which is beautiful and great and a true honor. But I feel like it's important to remember that I am more than "mama".

As moms we put others before ourselves every hour of everyday. Until those little eyes drift off to sleep or that sitter/knight in shining armor comes to save the day! And it's in those moments where I think it's important to do something for yourself.

Something that you enjoy, something just for you. Because you can't pour from an empty cup.

What are somethings you enjoyed doing before babies? Chances are you could still do most of those things! Once a day, once a week or once a month, carving out that special time to just be you is important. I have found that if I'm able to get at least a few hours a week to myself I will 100% be a better mom. So in honor of #tbt I thought I'd share something's I have loved to do in the past and will make time for again.

Oh SUP how I love you! Hard to do this with kids unless you have mad skills.

Sweet, sweet quiet time with Jesus. Creating brings me so much joy, creating with my creator is the cherry on top!

Yoga, weird workout classes, and just exercising in general. Those endorphins!

School. I LOVE school. I can't wait to go back.

Fishing! I used to go salmon fishing with my husband in Washington and it was the best! Just me and him.

Hunting, my dad put me in camo pretty much as soon as I could handle a hike haha! Truth be told I used to think it was lame. Until I had to do hard adult stuff and realized how freakin' peaceful it is to be out there with no distractions.

So mama whether you feel rested or weary I'm going to challenge you to do something for YOU. Whatever that may be! I would love to hear what your perfect mama's day out would be? (really give me ideas because I'm past due for a break haha)

Talk soon friends!

In love, Rachel
