2018 Vision and Goals! - Raising Up Wonder

2018 Vision and Goals!

Happy new year friends! I'm a little late, but I still hope I have caught you in your fresh start mind set!

Which is amazing.

Starting a new year is rad, it reminds you to look back on the last year and see the blessings and the hardships. To see what you accomplished or what you wish you would have worked harder at.

There are a few things I am really going to work at this year.

1. Putting the Word before the word. I have SUCH a bad habit of getting lost in my phone. I call it getting lost because one second I'm looking at a friends cute baby and the next I'm watching a compilation of dog fails. And to be completely honest, aside from the connections with other women on social media it very rarely adds positivity or speaks life! 98% of the time I am left feeling worse after scrolling than when I started, thoughts crowd my brain:

why can't my house be as clean as hers

why isn't my skin that clear

why can't I get myself together

if only I was a nurse already

if only I had x,y,z.

And I know better! I know that most of the things on social media are fake! Heck, I stage things for blog posts all the time!

But it's when I put the world before Jesus, that's when my perspective gets wonky. That's when I feel defeated, inadequate.

When I start my day with the Lord it changes my heart. I am able to see who I am in Him. I am able to see how the enemy wants to take me down with the comparison game. So this year I have promised myself to open the Word before I give my attention to the world.

Being totally realistic here! Because I know somedays Ryder will wake up before me so the Word may just be the bible app on my phone while he's having breakfast.

The ministry Well Watered Women inspired this and wrote a whole blog post on how they are going to put the #wordbeforetheworld this year. Please check out their post and their amazing ministry. Gretchen, the founder makes it her mission to share encouragement on social media! Their posts are sure to inspire and point you back to the Lord!

There are a few other things I'll be working on this year!

2. Like cutting out toxic products from our home. Don't worry I'm not going to message you to try my oils! But I do love them and I want to use them more in our home. (they work, that is something I will say)

3. Eating more whole foods. Even if that means less Chick Fil A *tears*

I'm not putting a huge amount of pressure on myself because that usually yields defeat! I know from past experience. Just kind of going to keep those three goals in  mind all year.

Our old church Lifecenter posted this picture and I thought it was really good! I love #5! It really is true, writing your goals down or making a vision board totally helps!

Making SMART goals is another great tool:

S: Specific. A goal of “being the best” is too broad for specific execution. ...
M: Measurable. How will you tell if you are heading towards your goal? ...
A: Attainable/Achievable. ...
R: Relevant. ...
T: Timely.

I'm really into goals, really into lists and really into worksheets. When I started working for lululemon part of employee culture was setting goals and creating visions.

The visions are specific pictures of how your goals will manifest! I found some of the worksheets online just like the ones we used. I'm totally printing them out in the morning.

I hope this little post encouraged you in the new year! I have really been clinging to this verse:

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;[a]
    his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.

It is such a blessing that we don't have to wait for a new year for a fresh start! His mercies are new every morning! His grace abounds!

Wishing you an amazing 2018!

In love, Rachel
